About us.

Our history.

The White Horse is a beautiful 18th-century country pub painted in a distinctive ‘Baston blue’ that sits quietly behind the church, nestled in the heart of Baston village.

Formally the Spinning Wheel, the pub was bought in the Christmas of 2012 by the Richardson family, 3rd generation local arable farmers. Lovingly renovated, restored, and rejuvenated, it opened its doors in 2013 under its original name, The White Horse. With its future secured for generations to come it now forms a valuable part of Thetford Farm Estate.

A village pub in the truest sense of the word, from the understated country classic interior, locally sourced seasonal ingredients, craft ales, extensive wine list and attentive staff.

With a focus on quality, family, and tradition, the White Horse is a true find.

The Team.

Codie.

Codie joined the White Horse Team in 2022 as Assistant Manager. Prior to this she worked for 5 years at the Robin Hood and Little John. A true people person, she is always pleased to see you and can’t wait to welcome people into the pub.

If you asked her for her food recommendations, she wouldn’t hesitate in suggesting the White Horse Burger. ‘It’s something else! Genuinely the best burger I’ve ever had!’

When not pulling pints and looking after our customers, Codie can be found at car boot sales looking for vintage ornaments or indulging in her love of horror films.

Adam.

Adam joined the White Horse Team as Head Chef in 2021, bringing with him a passion for food and over 9 years of experience, having gained valuable knowledge at well-known Stamford and Oundle hotels.

When not at the pub he can be found nurturing his vegetables on his allotment or relaxing in his garden.

Adam is a great role model for the team, we are delighted to support and encourage this with all our staff.

Chris.

Having originally joined the White Horse Team in October 2017, we were delighted when Chris returned to the pub in 2022 as Senior Kitchen Apprentice.

When asked what he found special about the White Horse, he replied, ‘the lifelong friends I have made. This pub is very special, all the staff are like an extended family.’

When not at the pub he spends his days off practising and perfecting his skills and techniques.

The Community.

Here at The White Horse, we believe that the pub is at the heart of the community. It is where people come to plan events, share stories, and make memories we are proud to support. We have Cake Club to wine tasting, committee meetings to local cricket and rugby team awards, quiz nights and charity events including raising money at the Church Harvest Auction. There is always something to look forward to including the fantastic Baston Beats Weekend, and who can forget our annual family favourite, the legendary Halloween Hunt & Haunt.

We are also proud to support amazing local charities close to our heart, such as Lincoln Support Rural Network and ‘Don’t Lose Hope’ who do so much good for others.
