Tucked quietly behind the church in the heart of Baston village, The White Horse is an 18th-century country pub known for its distinctive ‘Baston blue’ exterior, relaxed atmosphere and warm countryside hospitality.

Our Story

Originally known as The Spinning Wheel, the pub was lovingly restored by the Richardson family, third-generation local arable farmers, after being purchased in 2012. Reopening under its original name, The White Horse, it has since become a cherished part of Thetford Farm Estate, thoughtfully restored with the intention of preserving it for generations to come. Rooted in quality, warmth and a genuine love of hospitality, The White Horse is a village pub in the truest sense of the word, from the contemporary designed, country classic interior, locally sourced seasonal ingredients, craft ales, extensive wine list and attentive staff.

Our Food

Today, The White Horse blends the character of a traditional village pub with a more refined, contemporary feel. Seasonal food, carefully chosen wines, craft ales and welcoming interiors create a place designed for long lunches, relaxed evenings and gathering with friends and family.

Meet the Chef

Corneliu joined The White Horse in early summer 2025, bringing a distinctive culinary flair to the kitchen. His passion for British cuisine with a Mediterranean twist is reflected in his carefully curated dishes. With extensive experience, he is eager to drive the kitchen forward and continually innovate. Often found listening to Pavarotti while preparing his menus, Corneliu always works with a big smile, sharing his enthusiasm with the team!

The Experience

Life at The White Horse is designed to be enjoyed slowly. From relaxed midweek suppers and long Sunday lunches to spontaneous drinks in the garden and evenings gathered around the table, the pub is a place to settle into and stay awhile.

Here at The White Horse, we believe that the pub is at the heart of the community. It is where people come to plan events, share stories, and make memories we are proud to support. We have wine tasting, committee meetings to local cricket and rugby team awards, quiz nights and charity events including raising money at the Church Harvest Auction. There is always something to look forward to including the fantastic Baston Beats Weekend, and who can forget our annual family favourite, the legendary Halloween Hunt & Haunt.
We are also proud to support amazing local charities close to our heart, such as Lincoln Support Rural Network who do so much good for others.
